We first saw these a few months ago and have been eagerly anticipating the day when they would be available to buy. Who wouldn’t want the opportunity to decorate their car with their favorite Star Wars characters in a way that is long-lasting and of the highest quality. As usual we are of course partial to the Yoda design, but they have many other characters to choose from. Please check out FanWraps.net for more information.
BBC News is reporting that Stuart Freeborn has died at the age of 98.
Everyone that has seen the original Star Wars Trilogy has seen his amazing work on display – not to mention the numerous other films he worked on. However, we can’t talk about him without mentioning his most spectacular work (in our opinion obviously) that of designing Yoda for The Empire Strikes Back. The look was based on his own appearance – with a bit of Albert Einstein mixed in for good measure. This is a sad day and Mr. Freeborn’s contributions to all things Star Wars won’t be forgotten.
We’ve stayed away from much of the Lucasfilm/Disney stuff since it’s being covered by everyone else in the world Star Wars sites and not. Plus since the stories of the next 3 episodes are going to be after Return of the Jedi the chances of a certain Jedi master being in them is very slim. However, in all the talk there was mention that there would be other Star Wars movies made that are not Episodes VII, VIII, and IX. Well word of one of them is starting to get around the internet and yes the rumors are pointing towards a standalone movie centered around Yoda!
Obviously we’re going to be quite excited around here if this does happen.
Here are a couple of links about this story from AICN and io9.
The good folks at Galactic Hunter have posted a video review of a new set of Fighter Pods in and exclusive Yoda tin. According to the review it does look like there are some slight variants to existing molds and – of course – a brand new mold of Yoda!
Check out their full review here.
A new day, a new month and another new story about The Yoda Chronicles. Due out in July of this year – according to this listing on amazon – DK Books will be publishing a The Yoda Chronicles book. The book will also include a special, limited edition mini figure. The image doesn’t give much of a hint so we can only hope it is a new version of Yoda, but only time will tell.
This report from the 2013 Toy Fair by JediNews.co.uk features this upcoming set of nesting dolls being produced by Together Plus. The set we care most about has Yoda, with smaller Mace Windu, and even small Obi-Wan Kenobi “dolls” inside. These look to be in a very early stage of development, but hopefully do get released before too long. They also had their Kitt-o! paper pop up model kits, and of course one of these is Yoda as well. Click the link above for the full gallery they have of these items and others from the event.
Following up on our previous story about this new series, there have been some developments. Earlier this week Cartoon Network put out a press release detailing their upcoming shows which mentions that The Yoda Chronicles will be three animated specials. No mention of when they will air yet. However, Lego has put up a couple of videos to give us a sneak peek so we can get an idea of what to expect. They both are about a minute long and feature Yoda, Pong Krell and Ahsoka Tano on Umbara fighting off droids – as you would expect during the Clone Wars. Click through to view the videos. See More »

We’re a little late on this one, but still wanted to share this piece done by Tim Proctor a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately (for us anyway) this one was a one-off that he did, but it’s still worth looking at it.
For those unfamiliar with Tim’s work check out his facebook page and his website - Be sure to look around, but definitely check out page three of the portfolio section for the Yoda print he did for Celebration V. It was our first stop at there and we were able to snag #80!
